Klara Smahelova

is a young Czech accordion player, arranger and singer. She started studying music at the age of six. She studied musical arts, accordion and singing at the Conservatory in Brno. Klara has been influenced by classical and modern music which she studied. Now she is inpired by styles of tango argentino, french chanson, musette and jazz as the genres she actively performs and creates music arrangements. She has appeared at many international and Czech accordion festivals, competitions and workshops.

She has graduated in courses specialized on accordion styles and interpretation

- Jazz accordion at Italian jazzman Renzo Ruggieri - Val Tidone summer camp (2008 Italy)

- Interpretation by tango argentino at Argentinian bandoneon player and composer Rodolfo Mederos 2009

- New accordion technique at French accordion player Frideric Deschamps 2009

- Accordion workshop at Danish teacher and accordion player Jytte von Rüden, 2010

She has been awarded prizes such as:

- 1st. place at the central round of national accordion competition - music schools (1999)

- 1st. place at the central round of national accordion competition and a tittle of absolute winner of the 1st. category (2002)

- Honours at the international accordion competition Coupe Jenuesse (2003, SK)
- 4 th. place at the international accordion competition Coupe Jenuesse (2004, SK)

- 7 th. place at the international accordion competition C.M.A (2004, France)

- 3 rd. place at the international accordion competition in Poprad (2005, SK)
